Edward Davenport | Edward Davenport was born in Philadelphia in 1925. Edward followed his brother into the service, joining the US Army 20th Cavalry, the Buffalo Soldiers, in 1943. He initially served in a supply company in Virginia, training as a cook, but was later assigned to a fuel supply unit in Germany. He was injured during an evacuation of his unit in Germany. He was discharged with the rank of Private, however he earned a number of citations. After the war, he settled in Philadelphia.
